Chistian Peacemaker Team's Rally in Toronto, Canada, January 29, 2006
Several hundred people attended the Toronto, Canada rally to call for the release of prisoners held in Iraq. According to the Christian Peacemakers Team in Bagdad more than 16.000 Iraqis are being illegially detained. This does not include the 4 members of the Christian Peacemaker Team. We want an end to the arbritrary kidnappings and detentions on either side of the war. All those detained need access to legal and social supports in the same way as Canadians expect from our legal system. We, the people, need to know where and why people are locked up. We call for compassion from all governments, their peoples and all autonomous groups.
We support the Christian Peacemaker Teams in non-violent confrontation.
